Pumpkin Butter Making.

The light is changing here in the yellow house. Every afternoon around 4:00 the filtered rays from the setting sun become so enticing I just have to bake something. Yesterday it was pumpkin butter (which isn't exactly baked but delivers the same delicious scents.) I wonder what it will be today...

To begin I found the sunniest spot on the counter, pulled out my shiniest pot, gathered the ingredients, mixed them together then let the heat from the stove simmer it all down until the entire house smelled like a pumpkin pie factory.

The best kind of cooking/baking/making ends in sharing with friends so that's what I did next. Is the light changing where you are too?

  1. I never thought to make pumpkin butter! Sounds delicious. Here in Florida, the sun is setting earlier and earlier.

  2. I love these images. Our light has changed also but not for the better. I can't wait for more sun in the back windows.

  5. Since pumpkin butter shouldn't be canned (something about botulism and the high acidity of the squash being unable to reach a temperature hot enough to kill the bacterium), do you think it'd be ok to stick it in a jar with a tight lid and ship it across the country? Thoughts?
