Out Numbered.

The girls in the yellow house are officially going to be out numbered and we are thrilled. It took Audrey the longest to accept the fact that a little brother, not a sister, is headed our way. She had her tender heart set and was crushed. Thankfully, a couple of new baby boy outfits later she was feeling much better about the idea.

More than anything I'm so very grateful this little guy is healthy and growing like a champ. I do have my work cut out for me though. Boy names are tough! Would love to hear your very favorite suggestions.

(p.s. this list is helping with the search)

  1. Congrats on the big news! We're expecting a boy in a few months too, and I agree that boy names seem much more challenging than girl names!

Our girl was hoping for a little sister too, but she soon got excited about coming up with name ideas... but we're not going to choose any of the names she has suggested that rhyme with the name of the little brother she already has. :-)

  2. We're expecting our fifth (two boys, two girls) and my five-year-old daughter has been diligently praying every night for a baby girl (in response to my gentle reminder that it may still be a boy, she responded confidently that she'd talked to Jesus about it and it would definitely be a girl). I'm a little nervous about how she'll feel if it's another boy...I don't want to create a crisis of faith!

  3. Oops, meant to leave my faves--our boys are Isaac David and Luke Neil. (And I'm also hoping for a girl, because I am out of boy names!)

  4. Henry! I LOVE the name Henry! Unless you already have a Henry.... Then two Henrys would probably be a bad idea... :)

  5. Congrats to you!!! We have one boy and won't find out what #2 is until November. I agree, boy names are REALLY hard! Thankfully we had a great family name (Schuyler Baldwin) - it's pronounced "sky-ler" so we decided to use that for #1. I LOVE hippie/nature names (alder, sage) but it's hard to convince the hubs! :)

  11. I keep meaning to email you a REAL congratulations! My little girl was so sad to find out she was having a little brother too. She actually pouted at the ultrasound! She finally decided she could love a little brother too. I feel your pain with boy's names! I feel like I could name 10 girls for every 1 boy name I like!

  12. I had my third child 8 months ago a girl but my boy name was Samuel Gray. Just love it..

  13. I feel your pain with boy names, I have three boys and am expecting our forth child, a surprise. So I'm currently trying to find another boy name! Our last wasn't named until the day after he was born. Three names I love, because they are my boy's names: Anders, Edison, and John Henry. I think a Simon would be a sweet addition to your family! Congratulations!

  16. Congrats on baby #6 and a healthy ultrasound apt.

I love the name Tate for a boy.
Chase, Kade, Jace are also some fun choices.
(Not sure of your other boys' names)

Good luck on picking a name out. I always want to get it right when I name one of my children.

  18. My favorite boy name is Brody (and coincidentally that is the name of my 4 month old son :). Congrats!

  19. Tell me about it with boy names being hard! I'm being induced TOMORROW and we still haven't decided on a name! On our list though is Nixon, Cooper, Mason, Brody, Hayes, and Bennett. If you are sticking with your vowel theme though, those probably won't work out so well :)

  20. My faves are my three boys names...Tate, Dax and Dodge (really his name is Boe, but everyone calls him Dodge). Good Luck!

  21. Congratulations! We just had our second child this summer (a girl this time) so baby names were all I was thinking of for weeks! Our 5 year old son is Gavin and we absolutely love it! Other favorite boy names are Liam, Finn, Oliver, Everett, and Parker. But picking a name is such a personal thing....good luck!

  22. Another boy, how exciting!! Glad to hear the little mister is doing so well!!

That list you linked to is impressive- think you'll stick with a vowel name? I'm partial to Elliot, and Benjamin has always been a favorite of mine. Good luck with the name search :)

  23. boy names are the hardest! i can't wait to hear what you come up with. i'm sure it will be just right.

i hope you are taking it easy! congratulations again on your exciting news.

  24. That's lovely news! Our daughter has three brothers, (Ben, Ethan and Noah) so we are definitely boy heavy in our house. If Rosie had been a boy, she would be named Oliver as a namesake for my mum Olive.

  25. Congratulations!!
The name Axel ( an old fashioned Swedish name) has always been very close to my heart. I also like the Irish name Fionn, but you're right, boy names Are Hard! My girl's name is Malva Cecilie, a name that we came up with in about 5 minutes and it just felt right. It tooks us months to come up with a boy name!

  27. Well, I knew it! I crossed my fingers for an even match, but I just knew it was a boy! (maybe there are twin girls hiding behind him to even things out?? j/k!)

Boy names ARE hard. I think you have to go with an E name (I'm all about even-ness here, lol) for Easton. Sooo...

    Yeah I've got nothing. LOL
    Congrats.

    --- okay maybe a lil something ---
    Ethan
    Evan
    Emerson
    Emmanuel
    Ernie
    Edison / Eddison
    Emery
    Emerson
    Everett
    Emmett
    Edan
    Eldon / Elden
    Eliot
    Elias
    Elijah
    Elton* (ooh)
    Ephraim

...okay I'm done for now! went a little nuts!

(Yes, it must be an E name!lol)

  28. I see #48 Parker made Modos list! Our oldest son is Parker, our second born son is Holden and our daughter is Lauren, but the male version is Laurent.

  29. We have a Benjamin and have LOVED that name.
    Boy names are soooo hard!
I also like the previously mentioned Emerson. We we have used that if we had had a girl, but I think it could work for a boy too.
I also like Caleb, Carter, and Ian.

  30. We have Liam Michael & Lakon Matthew :) Congrats...boys sure do know the way to a Mama's heart!!!

  31. Aww I'm so thrilled for your growing family! You're such a wonderful Mother-what a lucky little man he is to join you all :) Boy names were easy for us so naturally we had a girl first :) Here's a few we considered...

    Cole
    Noah
    Grayson
    Peter

..geez I've forgotten a bunch I guess! I know there were more than that. Haha! I'm sure you'll know him when you see him. Are you guys name before or after people?

  33. My favorite part about pregnancy is picking out the name :) We had all girls, but if we had a boy he would have been named Harrison Allen Douglas (we have a long tradition in our family/ancestry of giving 2 middle names). My second daughter would have been a Sabrina, but the second we saw her ultrasound we knew she was a Lucy! Good luck picking!

  34. I wanted the name Palmer Louis for my boy, but Daddy said no. I still like it, though. Congratulations!

  35. Congratulations!! I agree, boys names are much harder!!

But I always think it's kind of a relief to think that I've never actually met a kid whose name doesn't seem to fit, you know?

Can't wait to hear what you choose. I'm sure it will be just right.

(I've always wanted a Sam - so simple and self-contained! Also Peter.)

  36. Congrats, Danyelle!! We like really simple, very boyish names - so our little one is named Sam. I really like these names, too: Judah, Roan, Shep, Charlie. Plus so many others.

  37. Two boys for us-Boeing Ryan (daddy is a pilot) and Huxley Owen; Boe and Hux for short! So happy with our name choices and our boys! No Anika though, as we are done.

  38. I'm 6 months along with a boy, as well. And finding a name is KILLING ME! :)

I have about 3 that I like and my husband has a completely different list that he likes. :) That's how it goes, I suppose.

    Lots of luck!
