May is here and all I can think about is packing up the family and going camping. You should know that thoughts like this are very unusual for me. I don't really like to be dirty and that aspect of camping doesn't appeal to me at all. But, being out in nature and enjoying the beauty of this earth with my family does so I guess I can put up with a little dirt under my fingernails, right?

While in the grocery checkout line the other day I spotted the latest edition of Sunset Magazine and was immediately smitten with the teardrop trailer on the cover. I snatched it up and read it cover to cover that night. (it's a great issue all about camping and traveling in the west if you're interested.) When I was finished, Ryan and I made a summer bucket list and I'm happy to say camping is a priority this year.

Obviously my pinboards are reflecting my recent fascination with the great outdoors. What about you dears? Any plans to get out and camp this year? Any great locations in or near Washington state I should know about? Also, please take a minute and watch this video with your children gathered around. If you didn't already have a serious case of wanderlust you will now!

p.s I originally spotted Project Yosemite on Design Mom and I've linked to it before but it's so good I thought it was worth another mention.

  1. I love this so much - especially that first image! I have an entire Pinterest board devoted to camping. :) My favorite WA camping spots are: Alta Lake (near Chelan), Lake Easton, Camano Island, and Rainbow Falls.

  4. Love all the vintage campgear! Those pins and links definitely have me wanting to go camping THIS weekend!
I camped at Lake Easton a long time ago and it was really nice...and not too far from you. We love camping on the penninsula the best though. Kalaloch Beach is amazing (near Ruby Beach which is my most favorite place on earth!) and they even have cabins for rent. Mora campground in Forks is pretty with lots of big trees and near an awesome beach. And I've heard good things about Dosewallips on the Hood Canal, 40 miles north of Shelton. Our friends have also said good things about camping on Camano Island. Hope that helps some. Just make sure you either get a reservation or find campgrounds with first-come first-serve....I know Mora campground has this. Good luck! It sounds like you have a great summer ahead of you!
