Date Night | Bringing It Back.
Confession: I love date nights. Except with the move and our busy schedules Ryan and I were spending more Friday nights at Costco than connecting over a nice meal. We would rationalize that it made sense to run errands without the children and counted it as a date. The problem? It never felt like a real date. Buying groceries and running to Target for odds and ends isn't the most romantic thing to do. Sure, we were together. But our conversation always hovered around the kids, the house and meal planning. We weren't having fun or connecting like we should have been.
In an effort to bring back those feelings of anticipation we had while were were courting and going on dates, we came up with a couple of rules.
One. We would alternate weeks planning the date, keeping the details a secret.
Two. No running errands.
I was in charge of planning our date last week and I really wanted to do something out of the box. Ryan played a lot of baseball growing up so a trip to the batting cages sounded like fun plus, I knew he would love it. After a simple meal, I drove my cute date to the batting cages where we laughed and had a lovely evening together. Ryan's in charge of our plans tonight and I have to say, I'm giddy with excitement. There's something about knowing he's putting thought into our evening that brings those old familiar butterflies.
I plan on sharing some of our excursions here every so often but I'm dying to know, what have been some of your favorite date nights?
