Craft Camp Day Four | Cake Decorating.

It's hard to say, but I have a feeling day four of Craft Camp was a favorite for the girls. My talented sister in law Alicia joined us and taught my campers the basics of cake decorating.

Each girl showed up wearing the apron she made the day before + was given a little cake of her very own.

Alicia taught how to "dirty ice" and roll + apply fondant to the cakes. She even created cute canoes, tee pees, trees and marshmallows on sticks for the girls to add as a finishing touch. Everyone covered their own cakes and enjoyed adding the camping embellishments when they were through.

I was really impressed with the way each cake turned out and so thankful to Alicia for joining us. Don't my little campers look professional (and cute!) in their aprons?

  2. Yet again I am impressed by the variety of activities you did during craft camp. I love that you did "serious," functional, meaningful crafts, not just a bunch of junky crafts that get set aside and eventually tossed. And you're helping the girls to develop actual skills beyond gluing and drawing. Of course, I would expect nothing less than top notch from you, but I'm still quite in awe of your creativity. :)

  5. Pretty soon I'm just going to get pouty that I didn't get to go to craft camp myself. :) I wish I had learned how to work with fondant when I was younger!

  7. The girls look like professional chefs in their aprons. I was sharing the post with my 7 yr old daughter and she said, "Mom, I would LOVE to attend that camp!" which is huge compliment because she doesn't really like to attend camps. I can't wait to see the rest of the week!

  9. I just got happily lost on your blog for a bit. I know lindsay, very cool connection. Such fabulous ideas that are doable with kids. Thanks! Something that might be really cool is to do sunprints (a hand-ons photo craft). It makes the art of photography a little more attainable for a group than trying to do it with cameras. Would be happy to discuss if desired. Have a great week!
