Oliver + S- Little Things To Sew.

A little over a month ago during our date night, Ryan and I wandered through Barnes and Noble. Ryan spent his time in the Health and Fitness section while I was a couple of rows down drooling over the Crafts/Decorating books. I snatched a few treasures that night and plan on sharing my thoughts on them here with you. First up: Oliver + S- Little Things to Sew.

I'm not the most skilled seamstress around but I do know one thing: Oliver + S make some really wonderful patterns. Remember my first clothing sewing experience? That was an Oliver + S pattern and it was a winner. Simple + easy to follow, perfect for a beginner.

It's easy to fall in love with this darling book. The colors are beautiful and the images + illustrations are fantastic. The patterns for all the projects are included as well as a couple of paper dolls to keep your little ones occupied while you sew away.

I've picked out two projects to accomplish soon. The Travel Quilt and the Penguin Backpack look like winners, no? I've read and re-read the instructions for both and find them precise and easy to understand.
Now all that's left is to search out fabric.

I'm also loving the cute way the book indicates how difficult a project is. The Penguin Backpack has three scissors. I guess I better get cracking if I want it ready in time to take on our summer adventures.

  1. I too love the scissors indicating the level of difficulty. So cute!

This book looks so inviting to a non-seamstress-y kind of gal like me.

I'm excited to see your finished projects!

  2. i can't wait to see how they turn out! knowing you, they will be even better than in the book.

    have fun!

  3. Ooo, I love the colors and design of that travel quilt. Can't wait to see what you come up with!

  4. That is the cutest book! I just might have to go check it out! Thanks!
