I do love them so, especially old ones. I once bought an old one at a garage sale for $2. It turned out to be from the 1600's and I sold it for $2,500 - now I wish we had kept it :)
Here, here on the love for maps. Some of my favorite things I have in the house are an aviation map that hangs in the guest bedroom that my husband used when he was taking aviation in college, and the nautical map that my dad used when we lived in southeast Alaska. The colors are great and such sweet memories.
I made woven coasters for my brother and his wife for Christmas out of an old Road Atlas. I used pages from states they had lived in. They were so fun!! Love maps.
Leon had an old leather coat that had map lining. I cut out the lining when I cut up the coat to make Camden a cowboy outfit for Halloween and covered a lamp shade for my laundry room. I am savoring the last bits. I think I will one day craft a pillow out of it. I have had this love for maps since I was a kid. Your neighbor - T
Not to mention using them to wrap presents or make coasters. Fun, fun!
ReplyDeleteI loved Lindsay's sweet map airplanes so much. Although, all of that folding....

ReplyDeleteI love maps too...and globes. They're great for crafts, decorating, and planning great adventures for the future.

ReplyDeleteNow you're talking my language :)
ReplyDeleteNow I'm feeling inspired by maps.
ReplyDeleteThanks.
There are so many neat ideas for projects that involve maps, but I just can't quite bring myself to cut up a map! Silly, huh?
ReplyDeleteI love maps! Thanks for the inspiration.
