Stationery Kit: A Handmade Gift.

This Christmas for the family gift exchange we had three nieces on our list. They are 13, 10, and 9 + all happen to be paper lovers. I have seen kits similar to this in the past (Suann made a lovely wedding version awhile back) and when I found the wood cigar boxes on clearance, well I knew this was the perfect opportunity to put some together.

Each of the kits were made slightly different (the patterned paper I used to line the inside of the box lids varied) but contained the same items:

-lined notepad
-miniature memory game (could be useful in babysitting, yes?)
-assorted trims
-Japanese masking tape
-tiny pencils
-personalized letter writing paper
-envelopes
-spools of colored bakers twine
-cute stickers
-tiny mushrooms

I really loved putting these kits together but my favorite part was watching the girls open them, then study each and every little thing tucked inside. It's exactly what I would do if I received a box full of tiny paper-ish treasures.

Thank you for all your kind comments! I found the boxes at a local craft store but I did a little searching and you can find them on Amazon. Just search for "unfinished wood cigar boxes" and you should see them. :)

I love this; what a great gift idea. My son would love something like this; he likes to write letters to his grammies and pappies. I actually got him a journal for Christmas, since he loves to write so much....this might make a great b-day gift; ideas are swirling now.

I like it better if a gift is handmade. I find it sentimental because the person who gave it did a lot of effort just to make the gift.
