Up-Cycled Drink Caddy.

I've had this idea in my head for over a year and thought today was the perfect day to show you dears.  Saturday is May Day and this would be a nice surprise to leave on a friends door step, no?  And guess what?  I even have another FREE download for you!

Gather your supplies:

1 kraft drink carrier (I got mine from Sonic after taking the children for some slush's during happy hour)
4 clay pots
alyssum plants (or whatever kind of flower you like)
"HELLO!" banner download
card stock
2 bamboo skewers
fabric

The steps couldn't be more simple.

Download the banner + print on card stock. Cut, then tape bamboo skewers to the back of the banner.

Plant alyssum  in clay pots.

Add pots to the drink carrier.

Wrap fabric around the drink carrier to cover restaurant logo. Once the fabric was around the carrier, I simply hand stitched the raw edges together to secure.

The "HELLO!" banner was inspired by a gift tag my friend Lindsay made a few months ago.  Don't you love having friends that inspire you?  Me too.

And that's it!  A sweet box of flowers all ready to make someone smile.

Speaking of smiling...I'm headed out for the weekend with my mom + sister sans kids.  Can you believe it?  No potty breaks every ten minutes, no diapers, SLEEPING IN!  It's going to be a great weekend, I just know it.

Happy Friday!

New Blog Cards.

About 15 minutes before I was to head out to the Blogger Meet Up, I decided I should probably have some kind of paraphernalia to give to my new friends.  You know, a calling card with important stuff about me, like how much I love cardigans.

Some card stock, Japanese masking tape, + lightning fast formatting was all it took.  I like how they turned out and love the tape even more.  I'm even tempted to replace the "ruffles" on my card with "stripes".

Are you starting to get a little weary of ruffles too?  No.  Just me?  Hmm.

Don't you love blogs?  Me too.  I also reeeaaallly LOVE to talk blogs.  And who better to do this with than a sweet bunch of local bloggers?

Susan of Freshly Picked organized a little meet up at one of our areas best spots.  The Country Mercantile.  Cute shop, great food, pretty scenery.  What more could you want? Oh, chocolates.  Well they have those too.

Reverencing Womanhood FREE Download!

Alright, friends.  Here it is.  My very first free download!  Hip hip.  I can't think of a better one either.  My dear, super-talented friend Kristin created this print as a handout for our stake Reverencing Womanhood evening.  Isn't it AWESOME?!  The design, the quote, just perfect.

In keeping with the modesty theme of the night, each print was hung from one of these and given to the young women as they left.

If you're serving in the Young Womens organization (or just want a print for yourself or your daughters) download the PDF right here.

Reverencing Womanhood.

This week has been busy.  And I cannot believe that it's Friday already.  The past couple of months I had the chance to serve on a committee for my stake to organize an evening titled "Reverencing Womanhood." The night was inspired by this talk Susan Bednar gave at BYU-I while her husband was serving as BYU-I President.  Have you read it?  It's amazing.

I was able to share a few thoughts that night about  reverencing womanhood + modesty.  In my preparations for this, I came across this gem of a quote:

"I want you to feel the reality of what this means, to know who you truly are.  You are literally a spirit daughter of heavenly parents with a divine nature and an eternal destiny.  That surpassing truth should be fixed deep in your soul and be fundamental to every decision you make." -Jeffrey R. Holland

I wonder what the world would be like if we all considered this "surpassing truth" before making every decision?

I feel so grateful to know who I am.

Thank you for being patient with me the past couple of months, dears.  With my dying computer and this evening weighing on my mind, I know I've been absent a lot.  To make it up to you, I think I've just about figured out how to offer up my very first free printable.  I think you'll like it. A lot.  Keep your eyes peeled...it may just pop up in your reader this weekend.

Happy Friday!

How To Build a Raised Garden Box.

Our garden boxes are all finished, filled with soil and waiting for Saturday when we'll be planting.  (Can't wait!) Some of you were interested in how we put ours together so here is a quick tutorial on how to build your own 4X4 ft. box.

Once the boxes were built we stained the exteriors with a clear deck stain.

I can already smell the fresh basil...
