Saturday was magic.
From the second Mindy took the stage in her cat eye glasses, vintage dress (with eyelet petticoat) and red boots we were all enchanted. Her voice was spot on and she was so warm with the audience. One of my favorite parts of the show was hearing the inspiration for her songs. The personal stories she shared were especially touching. And her cover of The Cure's "It's Friday I'm In Love"? Can't get it out of my head. Marilyn and I are campaigning to get that gem released.
Witnessing someone you love accomplish a life goal is special. Dear Marilyn has dreamed of bringing great music to this neck of the woods for as long as I can remember and that's what she did. She didn't wait around for someone to open a door or grant her permission, she just did it. And isn't that all it takes? Having the courage and the ambition---the drive to accomplish what our little hearts desire. I left Saturday night feeling inspired. By Mindy and Marilyn. Two remarkable women who are living their dreams, following their hearts and inspiring all those who come in contact with them.
Mindy's album is one of my favorites of the year. If you haven't snagged it yet, don't hesitate. You'll fall in love. I promise.
The above photo was taken by Lee Ann with Mindy's phone using the Hipstamatic app. I still love my Shake It Photo app but that Hipstamatic is dreamy.
