Cleanse.

So. Friends.  I am a sugarholic.  I love it. I crave it.  I eat far too much of it.  I've let myself slip into a very unhealthy pattern and I need to break it.  As a jump start, I've decided to devote this week to a detox.  My friend found a plan that worked well for her, so I thought I'd give it a shot too.  This morning for breakfast I made my first ever green smoothie.  And guess what?  I actually liked it.  And so did Audrey.  Oliver thought he had died and gone to heaven.  I literally pried the straw from his vice grip.

Would you like the recipe?  Yes?  Here you go:

Green Smoothie

2 bananas (fresh or frozen)
1 mango
2-3 large handfuls of baby spinach
1 celery stick
1 C. water

Now that we're all feeling good and healthy, we're headed out to a walk along the river.  The sun is shining and it's far too nice out to stay inside this afternoon.

Kisses!

  5. You totally had me right up until you said "2-3 handfuls of spinach." I LOVE spinach but in a smoothie? I'll have to think about this!

  8. what kind of blender do you use? If you want some more girl-help additives, Brewer's Yeast is awesome for B vitamins and Mood stablilizing:)

  14. I'm off to Sunflower to get the ingredients. I am fully addicted to candy as well, & sadly I have passed that trait right along to the little men. Here's to hoping that this works for us too!

  18. Unfortunately, I don't like mango, which I know is a total bummer. Who doesn't like mango, right?! But, yesterday I had a yogurt parfait for breakfast and it was the most delicious thing ever! Chopped strawberries and fresh pineapple, plain, lowfat yogurt mixed with honey, and some organic granola. I kept thinking, "I can't believe this is good for me!"
