Mommys Little Helper?

Household tasks that are impossible to complete with an (almost!) one year old in the house:

1. Sweeping.  No carpet = lots of sweeping. Oliver seems to think this red stick with the fancy brush at the end is a toy.  His toy.  When we're not fighting over the broom, I'm chasing him away from the debris pile.

2.  Laundry.  The look of satisfaction on his face when he demolishes a folded pile is a little unnerving.

3.  Toilets.  Do I need to explain?

4.  Dishes.  "What Mom? This fancy pull down door isn't my personal platform?  But there are all of these shiny toys inside.  And the water..."

I know I've been MIA for awhile, friends.  I have no good reason other than it's spring and I'm really enjoying the sunshine.  (I think it's obvious I'm not getting any housework done.)  You need to know that I've missed you all and your cheery-make me smile-sunshine in my soul-comments.

And that last picture?
I just thought you'd like to see baby Oliver's curls again.  I love them so.

  1. Son One was scared of the vacuum when he was a baby, which was great because I could vacuum without him wanting to mess with the vacuum. But with Son Two, he loves the vacuum and wants to climb on it and take it apart whether it is being used or not. It makes vacuuming so hard!

And cheers to the sun! In the past few weeks, I have found myself starting to say a new phrase to my son. "Get outside and get some sunshine on your face!"

  2. Adorable curls on an adorable kid!

  3. I am glad I am not the only one who has this problem! Sam and Oliver sound like they would be the best of friends. They share too many similar interests! (Oliver's curls are adorable. I love babies with curls.)

  4. I feel your pain, but doesn't it give us a great excuse to throw in the towel and play?!

  5. I wish they would be as enthusiastic about helping and cleaning as they got older! Our broom gets played with all the time over here too.

  6. This is the story of my life! With a 2 year old and an almost 9 month's never finished. Glad to see I'm not the only one going through this!

  7. baby curls are THE BEST!!

i don't miss those days of wrestling throught the chores,,,

ok. maybe just a little, when the curls are part of the deal. :)

  8. oh, i love to hear that my boys aren't the only ones that are obsessed with the broom and messing up piles! ian's favorite toy in the world was his little broom until he broke it. so wierd.

  9. I can fully empathize with you on all 4 counts! My favorite is when Zachary tries to eat the swept up pile of debris. Mmmmmm....

*Missed you too but sunshine is a great reason to take a break!*

  10. Oh, I want a little Oliver to get in the way when I'm trying to clean!
