Saturday Owen celebrated this milestone with all of his friends. If you know Owen you know his personality is larger than life and he loves being silly. So, we decided to have a silly party. All of the children we outfitted with party hats that I made and moustaches painted with acrylic paint. Some of the children didn't like the hats or the moustaches, but Owen LOVED them. [don't let the cool as a cucumber picture fool you, he was in heaven.] In fact, he has asked me everyday since the party if he can have a moustache.
I have been dying to make a bunting since I first started seeing them everywhere a year or so ago. We were trying to keep the party budget low, so instead of fabric, I made mine from paper I had in my stash.
I used the same stickers I made for the invitations on the treat bags. After filling them, I sewed them up with orange thread.
These are the goodies that were inside the treat bags. Silly glasses, a whoopee cushion and some pop rocks.
I made these vanilla cupcakes with this frosting. Divine. A goal: Learn to pipe the frosting on using a large pastry tip. I tried and failed. I was able to use scrap paper from the bunting to create these cupcake picks.
We washed everything down with some delicious Clementine Izze. [In a coordinating color, of course]
Owen had a happy day celebrating with his friends and the sweet boy thanked me over and over for his first big boy party.
Happy Birthday, Dear Owie!
We LOVE you!
