Library Book Bags.

I mentioned in a previous post that I am planning on using public transportation more. This summer we will be riding the bus to the library every Monday morning with a picnic lunch in tow. The bus will have us at our destination within 25 minutes and the gas I save will be well worth the ride. My children are so excited about this idea. They don't ride a school bus, so the idea of a bus ride has them thrilled. [especially Owen] The library we will be going to has a sprinkler park next door, so they will need to bring their suits and towels along too. I made each of the older three these bags to house all of their books to and from the library and also room for a suit and towel. They are just the right size and they turned out exactly as I imagined them.

E is for Easton.

A is for Abby.
[Miss Abigail had a lot of input on her bag. Hence the buttons and extra stitching.]

O is for Owen.

The Canvas bags were purchased at a local craft store for $2.99. I think it would be so cute to make a personalized bag as a birthday gift. You could fill it with a beach towel and goggles for a summer birthday or a board game and coloring supplies for a winter birthday. The possibilities are endless.

  3. Kaden thinks riding the bus is the best thing EVER! Probably because we only do it once or twice a year.

  7. OK, we practically live at that water park during the summer ( I am assuming that you are talking about the library over towards my house). We will have to meet up!

  11. That is such a cute addition to the bags. I like the idea of giving each of your children their own place to carry things and keep track of them. Your library day sounds like it will be bunches of fun.

  12. These bags are so cute! This is such a cute idea. Me and my kids have been talking about riding the bus to the library this summer. We go there once a week in the summer, but with gas being so expensive I have been trying to cut back on some things. I think that taking the bus we can still keep our library tradition! Maybe will run into to you and your crew. Have fun!

  18. We can't wait to catch the bus with you guys and head on over to the library.

Thanks once again for the inspiration, I needed this today. I was just at the craft store the other day and was looking at these bags, but my brain wouldn't come up with an idea of what to do with them. That is why I need your weekly crafting ideas!

    Love you!

  19. Danyelle, I couldn't believe it when I saw this post! About a month ago Sydney was needing a bag for all her piano books. John has a stack of canvas bags with company Logos on the front from conferences he has attended. I covered the Logo with fabric like you did and was so pleased with the results! I too thought what a great gift if would be and was even going to make some for the Bunco books but I ran out of time. I love your fabrics!
