Campout.

Friday evening Ryan and the children went camping the easy way. They walked about 30 paces into the wilderness [aka: our backyard]. No packing, no laundry, no expensive gas needed. Just the father and his children in a simple tent enjoying time together. Oh, and a few rounds of our current fav game, Uno was also enjoyed by all.

  1. Donald has been talking about taking the girls campling for the first time. Maybe I should convince him to do a backyard campout first - just to see how they do.

Looks like they had fun. Uno is such a classic game. Love it.

  2. We've got a ward campout this weekend. The kids love it, but what a lot of stuff to drag! I like your idea better.

  3. I LOVE backyard campouts. So fun, and like you said--a lot less work! I recently discovered a great, easy way to make smores. I put it all in our toaster oven. You still get the toasty flavor (microwave just isn't the same) but without the work and smoke of a fire (thought if you can, this is still the best way).

  4. The idea of no camp fire smelling laundry is enough for me to insist on backyard camping only ;)

    We love UNO too.

Uno it's times like these that really matter.

  6. Sometimes my parents used to let us set up a little dome tent in the house and sleep in it. So fun.

  10. I wish I had known. I could have played "bear" and given them a few growls from in the forest. And Leon does a great deer imitation. He could have pounced by the tent.
