Traditions

One of the loveliest things about this time of year is the tradition of The Nutcracker. Like a lot of mothers and daughters have done this holiday season, we enjoyed The Nutcracker this past Saturday afternoon. My mother, Abby and I have gone the last three years and this is quickly becoming one of my favorite holiday traditions.

Here we are heading out the door...

Another of my favorite traditions is the Christmas card. I anticipate making my cards months before Christmastime arrives. I am currently up to my elbows in card stock, labels, envelopes, pictures, and paper trimmers and I couldn't be happier. I spent the bulk of my day yesterday at the computer formatting everything just right. Today is assembly day. {the fun part} One year Ryan had the nerve to say "Why don't we just do one of those picture cards that everyone else sends out?" Blasphemous! I know it is a ton of time, a ridiculous amount of money, and a picture card would save me a lot of both, but this is something I look forward to all year long and I wouldn't have it any other way!

Here is a sneak peek...

I'll post a real picture of the finished product next week {when I'm sure every recipient has opened theirs from the mail.} I don't want to ruin it for anyone because receiving Christmas cards just may be more fun than making them.
Have a happy, creative day!

  4. I always love to see what you've put together for your card. Even if it would save time and money, if you enjoy it, keep it up!

  5. That is a great picture of you girls. I think traditions are great, they are what keep us going sometimes and are treasures to pass down to our children.

  6. I think Sarah said something pretty deep there. Traditions keep us going. That is a great picture of you, Abby & your Mom. Looking forward to my card. Will it come in the mail or by special delivery from some cute little elf?
