Girls Only

Finally! It feels like this room has taken FOREVER to put together, and there are still bits and pieces to tweak, but here it is... {disclaimer: the pictures aren't the best, but you get the idea...}
Two of my favorite things in this room. This beautiful botanical print from our very generous neighbor, and this vintage lamp found at the Fox's Bungalow Show a couple years ago. {I'm really missing that show}

I talked about this chandelier before. Could it be more perfect?

This dresser was a yard sale find when Ryan and I were first married. The mirror above graced the walls of my parents house when I was growing up. {I remember brushing my teeth in front of that mirror in the hall many, many times.}

I think every room in the house should have a little Christmas cheer.

I found this chair at Goodwill for $12 when I was pregnant with Abigail. I painted the arms and feet and had it reupholstered in this great fabric. It's super comfortable and it even rocks. The best nursing chair! I love it!

There's a lot to talk about in this picture. First, I know the pink quilt and pillow sham are clashing a bit. I am on the look out for a great white set. I found this pink one at TJ Maxx four years ago for $29.99. The quality has been outstanding, so I'm holding out for another great TJ deal.

Ryan and I made the headboard for Abigail's room in our last place. The color just happened to work with the new room. Don't EVER buy an upholstered headboard. They are so easy to make, it's almost a crime that places charge so much for them.

Now, I know that you are all dying to know about the wall murals. A while ago I saw a picture of this mural on a blog. I can't even remember which blog it was, but I printed out the picture for future reference because I loved the look so much. My dear friend Catherine {who is so sweet and talented by the way} painted my girls murals for me. Can you believe how great they look? Seriously, Catherine is one of the most talented people I know. She should have a blog.

Audrey's awesome bedding was sewn by my Mother in law. You can't see it in this picture, but she hand stippled the entire thing. She is an amazing seamstress! I really love the way it turned out!

The mobile was made by yours truly. I made a bird template out of cardstock then traced around it onto fabric. After sewing the birds together, Abigail and Owen helped me stuff them. We hung them from sweet ribbon attached to some sticks from our yard. A nice organic touch, I think.

Have a nice afternoon!

{Tomorrow is the gift wrapping tutorial!}

  1. It looks beautiful! That mural is so amazing.

    You're right, Catherine should have a blog. She is very talented but probably way too humble to ever talk about the amazing things she does. She has the BEST handwriting I've ever seen!

  2. It turned out so nice, it looks like something out of a magazine. Great work!

  3. TJ Maxx does have great bedding for good prices. We've been looking for a white twin quilt too!

  4. It looks gorgeous! What an amazing job Catherine did on the murals!

    I also love the green headboard with the paint. Perfect combination. I think the thing that I love most about this room is that it's feminine and sweet, but not too young. This is perfect for the girls to grow up in and not FEEL like they are living in a LITTLE girl's room.

    Great, great job Danyelle!

  5. So classy! I love it. I love sleeping in beds with all white bedding. Good luck in your search.

  6. check out Martha's line at Macys for pretty white bedding!

  7. the room is beautiful! the mix of furniture and other pieces is fantastic.

    I also have a pair of COOL lamps I bought at the fox bungalow show...what are we going to do without that show?

    LOVE the christmas cheer in every room idea!

  8. Is it Christmas cheer or Christmas chair? I want to live in this room. I am trying to redecorate my bedroom (have been for 5 mo's) the only problem is that a man lives in it too and what I want is too girly. I don't want frilly I just want a girly color. Maybe if I paint it pink and put a deer head in there it would past muster, or at least paint a deer mural. Whatcha think?

  9. i love it. i love your nursing chair. my eyes have been scanning D.I. every time i go for one. how much was it to reapholster? (if you don't mind me asking)

  10. Danyelle, it is incredible. I cannot believe Catherine painted those murals. I thought you bought a vinyl one somewhere. Can't wait to see it in real life.

  11. I love it! I am so impressed! I would love you to come decorate my house!

  12. Hi! Found you via love love the headboard, have been wanting to do one for my master bedroom but alas, I'm completely clueless! Do you have instructions to share?

  13. by the way...I remember that Gardner Village Quilt Shop often had different white quilts...some rather pretty and not too, well, "country." The girls' room is precious!
