File From The Brain.

I am constantly being inspired. Everyday I see something that ignites some sort of creative juice. Some days I'm inspired by interiors. Some days it's nature. Other days it's food. Whatever the inspiration is, I file it away in my brain. This method may not work well for some, but for me, I NEVER forget an inspiring concept. I may not remember where the original inspiration come from, but when I need an idea, it's right up here (pointing to my head.)

I was to attend a bridal shower for a family member on Saturday and was wracking my "filing" system for a creative gift idea. I always try to give something homemade, original, or creative for shower gifts. I steer clear of the gift registry until the wedding and try for something a little more personal for the shower.

This is what I came up with...

I'm still not sure where the original inspiration came from. I found these awesome glass jars with delicious metal lids at Wal-Mart (for only 2.97!) a while ago and thought it would be fun to fill one with a sewing kit. I'm sure this is something the bride will get lots of use out of. This idea could be adapted for anything. You could fill the jar with match box cars for a child's gift or makeup and nail polish for a teenage girl. Ohhh the possibilities!

YOU may be getting a jar gift from me soon...

  1. How awesome! This is the kind of stuff I am always wishing I could think of. But for some reason when it comes to gifts I automatically think "go to the store and buy something." It never even occurs to me to try and do something like this! I wish I had your creativity and "filing" system!

Finding the right container totally makes the gift. You could fill that with anything and it would be adorable. Great idea!

Lovely. it is people like you that should be making a 'creative journal' and then make it into a book for all of us creatively slow people who would never in a million years think of something this great. so cute. abe is still flabbergasted that i don't have a sewing kit. why? i'm not sure i'd know what to do with it once i had one.
IKEA opens tomorrow. i'm going on the opening day. i guess i'll have to blog about that. just thought i'd let everyone in on my crazy shopping trip planned.
